BEIRUT (Reuters) -An Israeli strike on a building in a densely populated district of Beirut on Sunday killed Hezbollah's media relations chief Mohammad Afif, two Lebanese security sources told Reuters,

The Hezbollah militant group has a strong presence in central Beirut, known as the Dahiyeh, and the strikes came as Lebanese officials are considering a U.S.-brokered cease-fire proposal.

Afif, who was Hizbollah’s chief spokesperson, is the latest senior figure to be killed by Israel in a campaign that also claimed the life of its leader Hassan Nasrallah in September.
