The spiritual town of Dharamshala came alive with devotion, colour, and celebration ahead of the 14th Dalai Lama's 90th birthday. Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama attended a "long life prayer" offered to him by the Central Tibetan Administration on behalf of the Tibetan people to mark his 90th birthday.

The Dalai Lama has said that he hopes to live for another 40 years until he is 130 years old, on the eve of his 90th birthday, days after he sought to assuage rife speculation over his succession by saying he would reincarnate upon his death.
