Hercules came off the bench and scored in the 70th minute to lift Fluminense past Al Hilal 2-1 in a Club World Cup quarterfinal match on Friday.

Substitute Hercules' heroics helped Fluminense secure their place in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup after beating Al-Hilal 2-1. The match began on a sombre note, with both teams observing a moment of silence in memory of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva.

Matheus Martinelli and substitute Hercules struck as Brazilian side Fluminense advanced to the Club World Cup semi-finals with a 2-1 win over Saudi club Al-Hilal. Martinelli fired into the top corner after finding some room in the box following Gabriel Fuentes' cutback five minutes before half-time although they were quickly pegged back in Orlando.
