Mahendra Patel, an Indian-origin man from Georgia, was cleared of attempted kidnapping charges after spending 45 days in jail earlier this year. The charges stemmed from an accusation by a woman who claimed Patel tried to kidnap her child at a Walmart.

Charges have been dropped against a man accused of attempting to kidnap a 2-year-old boy at a Walmart in Georgia. Mahendra Patel, of Kennesaw, was arrested and subsequently indicted by a grand jury on attempted kidnapping, battery and assault charges stemming from an incident reported at a Walmart in Acworth on March 18.

ATLANTA, GA – Charges of attempted kidnapping and assault have been dropped against Mahendra Patel, a 57-year-old man from Georgia, after prosecutors concluded their review of the case. Patel had been jailed for six weeks following an incident at a Walmart in March.
