Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and others reacted to the removal of the rainbow crosswalk outside the Pulse nightclub, the site of a massacre in 2016.

Protesters returned to the Pulse Memorial crosswalk in downtown Orlando this week after state crews painted over the rainbow-colored markings, sparking renewed outrage from LGBTQ+ advocates and local residents.

Those include several new mural crosswalks added throughout downtown last year in hope of increasing visibility of crossings for pedestrians, as well as the Thornton Park swan-adorned crosswalk.
