Q: I developed a lump under the skin of my neck that my doctor said was a kind of tumor, a lipoma. She said it was benign and we can just watch it and do nothing.

Lipomas are typically found just below the surface of the skin, often on the trunk, neck, limbs or forehead. Less often, they may form within a muscle or inside an organ.
