A 39-year-old man was fatally shot early Sunday near a Midtown Manhattan nightclub, and the New York City Police Department said the shooter remains on the run.

Michael Halberstam, 37, had been hospitalized since the Nov. 21 shooting that killed Sgt. Terri Sweeting-Mashkow.

A suspect is charged with murder in a fatal shooting in Zebulon. A person and a dog were fatally shot Wednesday night in a home in Zebulon in eastern Wake County, police said. A person called 911 just before 6:30 p.m. to report an assault in the 2100 block of Taramar Lane, according to a news release.
