Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier is launching an investigation into developer Roblox Corporation, alleging that the online game creator Roblox is a "breeding ground" for predators that enables child abuse.
Following a civil subpoena earlier this year, Attorney General James Uthmeier announced Monday that he is issuing a criminal subpoena to Roblox, an online video game. According to Uthmeier’s office, “multiple investigations have revealed that sexual predators are using Roblox to access,
“Roblox is exploiting our children while exposing them to the most dangerous kinds of harm and enabling their abuse,” Uthmeier said in a video posted on social media. “It’s a breeding ground for predators to access kids.”
Roblox, a world-building video game, has about 40 million players under age 13 – or more than a third of its user base.
Violent games, including a simulation of the graphic shooting of activist Charlie Kirk, are seen by young children on the social gaming platform, the lawsuit alleges.
