The Texas Panhandle is set to see the first of this frigid air blowing in from the north. By Thursday night, January 8, snow is slated to start blanketing the region. Through the next 24 hours, icy flakes will continue to fall as temperatures plummet to well below freezing.
Winds are picking up across north Texas this morning due to an approaching storm system. This system at mid-levels is sparking showers and storms to our west and our north this morning, but is expected to move east through the day.

Texas sets new weather record
A new weather record was set in Texas this week, according to meteorologists. In a Tuesday post on X, the National Weather Service (NWS) forecast office for the Austin and San Antonio area said the daily record high temperature at Del Rio International airport was broken with a reading of 84 degrees Fahrenheit.
