Five people were killed and dozens were injured after a tour bus they were on crashed in western New York state following a trip to Niagara Falls. New York State Police say they believe the driver became distracted before the bus went onto the median of the New York State Thruway outside of Buffalo.

The New York State Thruway Authority reported traffic backed up in the area. WIVB-TV in Buffalo reported several Mercy Flight helicopters were requested, and some uninjured passengers were taken to the Indian Falls Fire Station.
