Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has agreed to a four-year, $285 million contract extension that will give him the largest annual average value salary in NBA history.

Per CBS Sports Research, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is now the highest-paid player in the NBA by AAV, with his $71.3 million AAV now $7M richer than Joel Embiid's $64.3M. Jayson Tatum ($62.8M), Giannis Antetokounmpo ($58.5M) and Anthony Davis ($58.5M) round out the top five.

Kansas City isn't exactly ground zero for Oklahoma City Thunder fandom, but the NBA team does have support in the area. That's helped in part by FanDuel Sports Kansas City airing the Thunder's games during the regular season. And the Thunder winning the NBA Finals also doesn't hurt.
