The UFC 319 main event was one-way traffic from Khamzat Chimaev, resulting in the crowning of a new middleweight champion.

Former welterweight title challenger Dan Hardy pointed to the latter as the perfect opponent for Du Plessis’ first fight after losing the title in a lackluster affair at UFC 319. “Hernandez, maybe that’s the right next step for (Du Plessis) and ‘Fluffy’,” Hardy said during an appearance on Submission Radio.

Khamzat Chimaev has revealed what he told Dricus Du Plessis during the main event of UFC 319 on Saturday, as the Russian took the middleweight title from the South African.

Du Plessis (23-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC) was handily beaten by Chimaev (15-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) in the form of a unanimous decision at United Center in Chicago, ending his reign as middleweight titleholder with two defenses under his belt.
