Man arrested for WNBA sex-toy throwing at Liberty game, the 3rd arrest in string of disturbances
Charles Burgess, 32, from Dayton, Ohio, was arrested for allegedly throwing an object at the Dallas Wings vs. New York Liberty game on Aug. 5, New York police told The Associated Press. The object hit a 12-year-old girl, and Burgess was charged with two counts of assault.
Minnesota Lynx star and WNBA MVP frontrunner Napheesa Collier has been upgraded to questionable for the team's game against the Atlanta Dream on Thursday. Collier has not played since Aug. 2 due to a sprained right ankle and had an initial recovery timeline of at least two weeks.
A meme coin cryptocurrency group has taken credit for starting the trend -- but insists it’s all marketing, and not misogyny
The Aces started August with a 53-point loss to Minnesota but have ridden a seven-game winning streak up to No. 2 in the Power Rankings following wins over New York, Phoenix and Dallas -- and could soon be second in league standings. A'ja Wilson has averaged 26.1 points and 13.3 rebounds over their win streak to find herself in the MVP race again.
Wilson won her record-tying third Kia WNBA MVP Award last season, having also earned the honor in 2020 and 2022. She is the fourth player in WNBA history to win three MVPs, joining Sheryl Swoopes (2000, 2002, and 2005), Lisa Leslie (2001, 2004, and 2006), and Lauren Jackson (2003, 2007, and 2010).
In the loss to the Aces, Brittney Griner was passed by A’ja Wilson for the most games in WNBA history with over 30 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks. After the announcement was made by the WNBA, the Dream star’s wife, Cherelle Griner, took to social media, sending a message to Wilson.
An Ohio man was arrested for throwing a sex toy at a New York Liberty game, police said. It’s the latest development in a string of disturbances at WNBA games.
A'ja Wilson is completely taking over the WNBA, as evidenced by her historic game on Tuesday in leading the Aces to their 8th straight win.
Brittney Griner has emerged as a star for the Atlanta Dream in her first season with the team, playing under head coach Karl Smesko. Atlanta has played their way into the WNBA title conversation, joining several other top teams in the league, such as the Minnesota Lynx and the New York Liberty.
