Annual upgrades don't usually make sense — unless it's the Pixel 10. It's got so many upgrades that it tempts you to ditch the Pixel 9.
In the age of incremental phone upgrades, Google just gave the Pixel 10 a leg up over a lot of other baseline flagship smartphones.
Every phone in the Pixel 10 lineup. announced today, has Qi2 magnetic wireless charging at up to 15W. The Pro XL has Qi2.2 and can charge at up to 25W, which is great and all, but wireless charging isn’t the cool part. The magnets are the cool part.
The Pixel 10 Pro series introduces a new “sensitive eyes” setting that doubles its display PWM rate to 480Hz. The option is limited to the Pro models, with partial support on the Pro Fold, and none on the base Pixel 10. This is Google’s first significant step toward helping flicker-sensitive users, but it could go further.
The Pixel 10 marks the 10th generation of Google's homegrown smartphone efforts. This year, alongside a new Tensor G5 chip, the company has included some upgrades that might make the base model the star of the family.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold may not look too different from Google's previous foldable phone, but it does bring some key improvements to areas like battery life and durability, while maintaining perhaps the most important aspect: the price.
Google employs the Qi2 wireless charging standard for the Pixel 10 and 10 Pro, which charge at up to 15W. The Pixel 10 Pro XL is Qi2.2 certified and charges at up to 25W wirelessly. Since the Pixelsnap chargers use Qi 2, they can also charge non-Pixelsnap devices.
