Around 20 decomposing bodies were discovered in a hidden room concealed by a cardboard display at Davis Mortuary in Pueblo. Now families are concerned that what they believed to be cremains of their loved ones may not be what they thought.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis and a local sheriff are calling for a county coroner to resign after state inspectors found about 20 decomposing bodies behind a hidden door in a funeral home he owned.

Pueblo Police have asked the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to take over the probe, given its experience investigating the Return to Nature Funeral Home case. A judge last year ordered that funeral home to pay $950 million to families whose loved ones’ remains were mishandled.
