Surging ahead with Snowy 2.0! Construction of the upstream surge shaft at our Marica site in the Snowy Mountains is progressing quickly. This time-lapse video shows preparation for the construction of the shaft and the start of excavation. 🚧 TBM tunnelling innovation! 🚧 Snowy 2.0 is at the forefront of tunnelling technology and innovation, with tunnel boring machine (TBM) Kirsten about to embark on a steep uphill excavation of the 1.6 kilometre inclined pressure shaft. The concrete segments used to line this 10 metre-diameter shaft feature a Force Activated Coupling System (FACS) which utilises unique steel couplers.
