Albert Bierstadt was a 19th-century German-born landscape painter who loved to capture the natural beauty of the United States, in particular of the American West, as this area was still largely untouched by human presence. More than any other area, he loved the view of the Rocky Mountains, like this one entitled Rocky Mountain Waterfall, painted in 1898 at age 68.
